What is the Peak Railway Association Ltd?
We are a company limited by guarantee with no share capital but with members. The organization of the company is governed through its Articles of Association. There is a Board of Directors elected by the membership and an Annual General Meeting.
What are our Aims?
Peak Railway Association Ltd is a membership and support organisation for the Peak Rail Project to reopen the former Midland Railway mainline through the Peak from Matlock-Buxton.
The main aims are to;
Promote the Peak Rail Project.
Encourage people to become PRA members.
Through PRA membership encourage volunteering on Peak Rail.
Raise funds for specific projects which will help develop Peak Rail.
Collect and preserve in its archives historic documents, photographs and artefacts associated with the Ambergate to Buxton and Chinley routes as part of the national network and also material relating to the Peak Rail project including groups based on the site.
Display archive material in the museum at Darley Dale station.
Organize social events for members and volunteers.
Peak Rail currently operates a Heritage Railway nearly 4 miles from Matlock to Rowsley in Derbyshire. Negotiations are currently underway to seek a significant extension northward towards Buxton. All this is overseen by another organisation, Peak Rail Plc, with whom the PRA liaise.
